The Dominican church ruin on Margitsziget
The church was founded by King Béla IV in the 13th century. The church built in Gothic style has a single nave, its sanctuary and oratory were transformed in the 15th century. South of the church stood the rectangular monastery building. Its most famous inhabitant was the king’s daughter, Saint Margit, after whom the island was named. Her red marble tomb was discovered here, the well house has been restored, while of the rest of the building only ruins remain.
