Gödöllő, which is famous for its castle, once belonged to the Grassalkovich family, and became the property of Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1867 as as a coronation gift. The building of the station was erected in 1874 in eclectic style, designed by Miklós Ybl, and became known as „the royal waiting room”. The window frames and corners of the brick building decorated with Ionic columns are covered in rugged stone. It is in good condition.
